CWJ Vol I issue 3 - It's ready!

Volume I issue 3 is now ready, and will be posted out tomorrow. So you should be receiving it before Easter (overseas subscribers may have to wait till just after Easter for it to reach you). If it doesn't arrive as you hope, let me know.
PDF subscribers will be receiving theirs by email tomorrow.

Contents include:
  • Tales from the Frontline -including a number of refights by Ian Allen set in the 1920s; a Napoleonic foragers encounter by Robert Arcangeli; an update on Chris Bowley's Franco Prussian project; plus lots more... and a letter of complaint from The Blasthof Parish Council!
  • A Napoleonic scenario by Bob Varga
  • 40mm GNW by Alasdair Jamison
  • Viva Catalonia - Spain in early 18th century- Part 2 by Ray Caddy
  • Indian Mutiny in 42mm by Daryl Haselton
  • Desert Island Wargaming with ... Aly Morrison!
  • Hyboria Part 3 of Peter Verduyn's Ancients campaign
  • French & Indian Wars scenario by Terry Preen
  • A 19th Century imagi-nations game by Stephen Caddy
  • Tales of the Golden Head continue with Ian Allen
  • One from the Archives - this time it's Tony Bath's NAXOS Campaign from 1957
  • and rounding off, Conrad Kinch gives us his usual wry slant on the hobby.

Add to that, a few colour plates, and some more exquisite sketches by Chris Gregg, and a plethora of contributors' sketch maps.
plus the special pull-out by Ian Allen - think Ikea meets Airfix, and you get the templates to produce The Flatpack Fighter:

All in all, I hope there's enough for everyone.
Thanks to all the contributors as always.

All the very best
Phil

I can't find a purchase option. Does that mean issues cannot be purchased separately? I know I bought the pilot issue separately.

Thanks guys.
Hi Dale: this issue is available as part of the subscription. The pilot issue is the only one that is available as a single issue.
Thanks
Phil

Another issue packed full of interest and demonstrating just how varied and imaginative the hobby is. I can't get enough of Ian Allen's airwar - it's just so outside anything I've ever thought about and I like his unique approach to adapting scenarios.
For CWJ to have 'an artist in residence' seems like a real coup too.

The nostalgia hit for me this time was the bridge on the front cover. Is it Timpo? I'm sure I had one as a boy - sadly long gone.

Thanks, Phil, to you and all the contributors.

Thanks for the kind comments, and for the updates on which corners of the world have been CWJ'd. I find it quite incredible that we have readers in Japan, USA, and all station in between. It's genuinely inspiring to be part of such a community of like-minded wargamers.

Hi Phil,
Another great issue full of great scenarios - a couple of which I've already had a bash at during the hols last week.
I loved Daryl's piece on Tanjapore using the Deutsche Homage figures - absolutely magical stuff and I can't wait for parts 2 & 3. I've been toying with the idea of getting some of those figures for a while - this has just pushed me over the edge!

And to echo Stephen's words - having Chris on board as our "artist in residence" certainly adds atouch of style to CWJ -great work as usual Chris.

Stephen - thanks for your kinds words about the Burko-Tulgarian air war. Hope you enjoyed the "Flatpack Fighter" too.

All the best & have fun with your gaming

Ian

Thanks for your support Ian.Tales of the Golden Head is an excellent combination of Colonial style gaming with Saturday matinee movies, and great fun to illustrate. I've just recorded "Lawrence of Arabia" to stimulate the juices for Issue 4's drawings!
